Iowa State football announces Nick Bassett and Coach Bray award recipients

Iowa State head football coach Jimmy Rogers has announced the recipients of the annual Nick Bassett Perseverance Award and the Coach Bray 58 Award.

Cody Jackson, a transfer from Tarleton State, received the Nick Bassett Perseverance Award. Jackson was recognized for his resilience after battling Lemierre syndrome, a rare and serious bacterial condition that required hospitalization during his freshman year.

Jack Janikowski, a redshirt junior defensive lineman, was named the recipient of the Coach Bray 58 Award. The award honors former defensive line coach Curtis Bray, who passed away in 2014. While recipients typically wear the number 58, Janikowski will continue to wear number 93 to support the Heather Janikowski Foundation. Both award winners will wear special stickers on their helmets to signify the honor.
