Iowa State football transitions to coach Jimmy Rogers
Iowa State football enters a new era under head coach Jimmy Rogers following the departure of Matt Campbell to Penn State. While Campbell’s exit included several key players and prospects, Rogers is viewed as a long-term asset for the Cyclones due to his successful coaching record at South Dakota State and Washington State.
In preparation for upcoming competition, West Virginia Mountaineers defensive coordinator Zac Alley has highlighted the tactical challenges posed by Iowa State’s offensive schemes. Alley noted that the Cyclones utilize constant motion, unconventional formations, and rapid personnel substitutions to create confusion. To counter this, West Virginia has implemented emergency defensive calls, referred to as ‘oh crap’ calls, to maintain composure when Iowa State shifts groupings late in the play clock.
