Iowa State men’s club hockey sweeps UNO in preseason series

The Iowa State men’s club hockey team secured a series sweep against the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) Mavericks during a two-game preseason series. The victory was driven largely by a significant influx of new talent, including 13 new skaters and three new goalies.

In the first game, which Iowa State won 5-4, rookies accounted for four of the team's five goals. Reese Hubmer led the points sheet after scoring twice within 23 seconds, including a power-play goal. Other notable performances came from rookies Wyatt Kostichka and Charlie Marchand, with Marchand scoring two goals in the opening period of the second game.

Goaltending duties were shared among junior Noah Behrens-Gould, Lennart Crittzman, and Ty Tanton. Behrens-Gould started the first game, recording 32 saves on 36 shots, while Crittzman started the second. The Cyclones are scheduled to begin their regular season against Central Oklahoma on September 17 and 18.
