Iowa State University to host FAA drone certification workshop

Iowa State University’s Digital Ag Innovation Lab, in partnership with Terraplex Ag, is hosting a two-day workshop to prepare participants for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification exam. The course will be held from November 30 to December 1 at the Alliant Energy Agriculture Innovation Lab in Ames, Iowa.

Targeted at agricultural professionals and commercial drone operators, the workshop covers FAA regulations, airspace classifications, and operational requirements. The curriculum includes hands-on review sessions, group discussions, and FAA-style practice tests. Led by Sam Welton, director of compliance at Terraplex Ag, the program also provides guidance on registering for exams at FAA-designated testing centers.
