Iowa State volleyball wins Big 12 opener against Texas Tech
Iowa State volleyball secured a 3-2 victory over Texas Tech in their Big 12 conference opener. The match, held in Lubbock, Texas, went to five sets with scores of 19-25, 29-27, 25-23, 17-25, and 15-12.
Nayeli Ti'a led the Cyclones' offense with 19 kills and eight digs. Nayeli Gonzalez contributed 16 kills, while libero Rachel Van Gorp recorded 30 digs. Pam McCune also provided key offensive support with critical kills in the final set.
Despite the loss, Texas Tech showed strong offensive performance, led by Katelyn Cochran with 63 assists and Kenna McKenzie with 18 kills. The Red Raiders recorded more blocks, assists, and digs than the Cyclones during the contest.
