Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District race intensifies

The race for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District is becoming increasingly competitive between Republican incumbent Zach Nunn and Democratic challenger Sarah Trone Garriott. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has launched an offensive against Trone Garriott, criticizing her legislative record and accusing her of voting to protect individuals convicted of serious crimes.

Despite these attacks, Trone Garriott maintains a fundraising advantage. Recent political shifts have seen the Cook Political Report move the district from a ‘Toss Up’ to ‘Lean Democratic’ status. While unofficial polling from the Iowa State Fair straw poll indicated a significant lead for Nunn, the district remains a key battleground in the upcoming midterm cycle.
