IPAESE promotes Libras courses at RioMar Aracaju
The Pedagogical Institute for Supporting Deaf Education of Sergipe (IPAESE) is hosting an initiative at the RioMar Aracaju social kiosk until August 31. The institute, which has operated for 25 years, aims to promote bilingual education by utilizing Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) as the first language and written Portuguese as the second.
During this period, the public can access Libras courses for both children and adults. Additionally, the institute is selling themed merchandise, including buttons, t-shirts, and ecobags, to promote diversity and inclusion.
IPAESE is recognized as the only bilingual school in Sergipe and the only one in the Northeast region to cover all levels of basic education, from early childhood to high school. The institution also provides interpreter services for public agencies and manages the Libras Intermediation Center (CIL) to facilitate communication for deaf individuals in public services.
