IPB University and KNEKS launch initiatives to strengthen agromaritime and halal economies
IPB University and the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance (KNEKS) have introduced strategic programs aimed at enhancing food security and the global halal economy.
During the IPB Stakeholder Forum 2026, IPB University Rector Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet proposed three strategic partnerships: strengthening agromaritime talent through integrated industrial internships, conducting joint research for industrial-scale downstreaming, and replicating village empowerment programs such as “One Village One CEO.” These initiatives aim to address challenges posed by extreme climate change, global supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical dynamics. IPB currently collaborates with over 1,500 strategic partners and has reached more than 9,000 villages through its Agromaritime 5.0 ecosystem.
Simultaneously, KNEKS launched the Building Alliance for Resilient and Advanced Knowledge in the Halal Economy (BARAKAH) program in Bogor. This initiative seeks to bolster the collective position of Developing Eight (D-8) member nations within the global halal industry by fostering supply chain connectivity, investment cooperation, and trade partnerships. The inaugural program includes participants from Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Türkiye, facilitating knowledge exchange and practical initiatives to ensure national halal products remain globally competitive.
