IPC President Andrew Parsons begins historic visit to Cuba

Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), has commenced a historic working visit to Cuba. This marks the first time an IPC president has visited the island.

Accompanied by Julio César Ávila Sarria, President of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas, Parsons is engaging in a two-day agenda focused on the development of adaptive sports. The visit includes tours of the Escuela Solidaridad con Panamá, a high-performance athlete training school, and the Cuban University of Sport.

The visit aims to explore cooperation between international, continental, and Cuban Paralympic structures. Cuban officials highlighted the nation's sporting achievements, noting that Cuba has earned 105 medals across nine Summer Paralympic Games, with significant success in para-athletics led by figures such as Omara Durand.
