IPEBC highlights mental health importance for cancer patients
Specialists from the Institute of Psychiatry of the State of Baja California (IPEBC) have emphasized the critical need for mental health care among cancer patients. Research indicates that between 20% and 60% of individuals diagnosed with cancer experience symptoms of depression and anxiety, which can hinder treatment adherence and social support utilization.
Victor Salvador Rico Hernandez, Director General of the IPEBC, stressed the importance of avoiding the stigmatization of the disease and debunking harmful myths. To support patients, the IPEBC offers free pharmacological and psychological treatments. Patients can access these services by visiting their nearest health center and requesting a referral to the institution.
