Cuiabá implements urban management and taxi meter regularization

The City of Cuiabá is implementing several urban management and regulatory initiatives. Through the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SORP), the city is expanding actions to organize public spaces, including the ‘Operação Cidade Limpa’ to reduce visual pollution and the ‘Operação Telefone Sem Fio’ to remove irregular cabling.

Additionally, a joint task force between the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Mobility and Public Security (Semob) and the Institute of Weights and Measures of Mato Grosso (IPEM-MT) is conducting a mandatory regularization of taxi meters between August 24 and 28, 2026. This measure follows a municipal decree adjusting taxi tariffs for the first time in over a decade. To facilitate the process, tax drivers will be exempt from metrological service fees during this period.
