Iperih tragedy: Father suspected of killing two daughters before committing suicide

The Razgrad District Prosecutor's Office is investigating a double murder and subsequent suicide in Iperih. A 42-year-old man is suspected of killing his two daughters, aged 10 and 17, with a knife before taking his own life by hanging at a property that was not the family's primary residence.

The bodies were discovered by the man's father on September 4. Investigators believe the incident occurred between September 1 and September 2. The property was found locked from the inside, and no evidence of third-party involvement has been identified.

Several motives are being examined, including financial distress related to gambling debts and the recent separation of the man from his wife, who left the home approximately two months ago. Authorities are also investigating reports of previous domestic violence. Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev noted that the father had suffered from depressive disorder, and officials are reviewing whether domestic violence protocols were properly followed.

The Municipality of Iperih has declared three days of mourning from September 6 to September 8, during which flags will be flown at half-mast and public events will be canceled.
