IperionX secures second US Army order for titanium manufacturing

IperionX has secured a second task order from the US Army to expand its industrial-scale titanium manufacturing capabilities at its facility in Virginia. The company has obtained US$11.5 million in funding under this order, which is part of an existing US$99 million Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III contract focused on providing low-cost, domestic titanium for defense applications.

The task order has a base value of US$18.5 million, with potential options that could increase the total value to US$25.4 million. The funding is designated for equipment and manufacturing systems to advance the company’s powder-to-part platform, including continuous HSPT™ furnace development, centerless grinding, and thread-rolling equipment.

By bringing titanium fastener finishing in-house, IperionX aims to shorten production lead times and reduce reliance on external suppliers. The program will specifically support the manufacturing of titanium track pins, bolts, and fasteners for US Army ground-combat applications, strengthening domestic defense supply chains.
