iPhone 17 Pro sets Guinness World Record after 30,000-meter fall

An iPhone 17 Pro has set a Guinness World Record after surviving a free fall from an altitude of approximately 30,000 meters (over 100,000 feet) in Sweden. The experiment was conducted by RhinoShield in partnership with the aerospace company Sent Into Space.

The device was carried to the stratosphere via a high-altitude balloon before being released. During its 25-minute descent, the smartphone was subjected to extreme environmental conditions, including temperatures as low as -60°C and significantly low atmospheric pressure.

To meet Guinness World Record requirements, the phone was not equipped with a parachute or additional protective layers beyond a RhinoShield case. The case was required to make direct contact with the ground upon impact. Following its landing in a Swedish forest, the device was recovered via GPS and inspected by a Guinness judge. The iPhone remained fully operational, capable of making calls and taking photographs, with no major visible damage reported.
