iPhone 18 launch triggers price hikes and stock shortages for iPhone 17

Following the launch of the iPhone 18 series, the Indian market is experiencing unusual trends regarding older models. Contrary to the typical pattern where new releases trigger price drops for previous generations, the iPhone 17 has seen a significant price increase. On Apple’s official website, the starting price for the iPhone 17 rose by approximately 21 percent, jumping from ₹82,900 to ₹99,900.

Retailers in regions such as Delhi-NCR and Ghaziabad have reported stock shortages for the iPhone 17. Some stores have transitioned to taking advanced bookings at the higher price point, citing that existing stock has been recalled by the company.

Additionally, a viral video from a local mobile repair shop in India demonstrates a modification technique where an iPhone 17 Pro is visually converted to resemble the iPhone 18 Pro. By replacing the back panel and adding a colored frame, technicians are reportedly using converter kits to mimic the aesthetic of the newer series.
