iPhone 18 Pro charging specs and storage performance details
The iPhone 18 Pro series introduces enhanced fast-charging capabilities, supporting up to 60W of power. To achieve peak speeds—charging to 50% in approximately 15 minutes—users require a USB-C charger compatible with the USB PD 3.1 Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS) protocol. While many 65W chargers are available, only those supporting AVS can dynamically adjust voltage to meet the device's specific requirements.
Technical testing has revealed performance variations in storage models. The 1TB and 2TB versions of the iPhone 18 Pro Max reportedly utilize QLC (Quad-Level Cell) flash memory. Benchmarks from HOMOLAB indicate that while these models perform well under normal use, write speeds can drop significantly—from over 3,000 MB/s to as low as 1.1 MB/s—once the high-speed cache is exhausted and the storage reaches high capacity.
Additionally, independent repair efforts face challenges due to Apple's hardware security. Attempts to upgrade the base 256GB storage to higher capacities using custom NAND chips are complicated by the Secure Enclave and component serialization, which can prevent the device from completing system calibration or iOS restores if unverified hardware is detected.
