iPhone 18 Pro migration experiences with ahamo eSIM setup

Users transitioning from older iPhone models to the iPhone 18 Pro have reported experiences regarding device setup and carrier migration, specifically involving NTT DOCOMO and its sub-brand ahamo.

One user noted that the iPhone 18 Pro features an upgraded fabric-style charging cable and improved camera aperture controls. The device was acquired through DOCOMO, which recently revised its pricing for the 256GB model.

Technical challenges were reported during the transition from a physical SIM on an iPhone 16 Pro to an eSIM on the iPhone 18 Pro using ahamo. The migration process via Apple’s Quick Start can encounter a loop during the eSIM activation phase, where entering the required 6-digit verification code from DOCOMO fails to progress the setup.

To resolve this, users found success by performing a forced restart of the new device and completing a software update before attempting the setup again. A recommended workaround to bypass the loop is to select the option to skip eSIM setup during the initial Quick Start process, completing the data migration first and handling the eSIM activation separately afterward.
