iPhone 18 Pro prices reach record highs in Egypt

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have entered the Egyptian market with high price points, driven by import costs, taxes, and exchange rate fluctuations. Retailer Tradeline has opened pre-orders, with deliveries scheduled to begin on September 18.

Prices for the iPhone 18 Pro Max vary significantly by storage capacity. The 256GB model starts at 107,500 EGP, while the highest-end 2TB version reaches 215,500 EGP. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at 99,990 EGP for the 256GB model and can reach nearly 200,000 EGP for the 2TB version.

According to Mohamed Talaat, head of the mobile division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, taxes and fees on imported mobile phones account for approximately 38.5% of the device's value. This contributes to a substantial price gap between international markets and Egypt. For example, a device priced at $1,200 abroad may cost approximately 100,000 EGP in the local market. To manage imported devices, Egypt implemented a governance system in January 2025 involving the Customs Authority and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, including the 'Telephony' app for electronic fee payment and device registration.
