iPhone 18 Pro users report cosmetic discoloration issues

Early adopters of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reporting cosmetic issues involving discoloration on the device's exterior. Reports from users on platforms like Reddit indicate that the fading or color changes are most prominent on the Burgundy and Black models, specifically concentrated around the rear camera module.

While some users suggest the issue is caused by UV light exposure or heat from the camera sensors, others argue the marks are simply accumulated dust in the crevices of the camera housing. This phenomenon has drawn comparisons to the iPhone 17 Pro series, which faced similar complaints regarding its Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue finishes. Apple has not yet issued an official statement regarding these reports.

Separately, technical leaks suggest that the standard iPhone 18 may utilize a scaled-down version of the A20 chip. This variant is expected to feature a smaller die size and reduced cache compared to the A20 Pro used in the Pro models, potentially to manage production costs while utilizing TSMC’s 2nm process.
