Apple launches AirPods 5 with active noise cancellation
Apple has released the new AirPods 5, introducing high-end features previously reserved for the Pro lineup. The new model features active noise cancellation (ANC) in an open-style design, which Apple claims is up to 50 percent more effective than the previous AirPods 4 with ANC.
Key technical improvements include a new multi-driver acoustic architecture, Adaptive EQ for immersive sound, and an enhanced Transparency mode. The AirPods 5 also support Siri AI and live translation capabilities.
While the AirPods 5 offer significant value, they differ from the premium AirPods Pro 3 in several ways. The Pro models maintain a more secure in-ear fit with silicone tips, offer superior noise cancellation, and include advanced health features such as heart rate monitoring and clinical-grade hearing aid capabilities. The AirPods 5 are priced starting at $129, with a wireless charging case option available for $149, whereas the Pro models command a higher price point.
