Ipiales councilor Lizandro Chamorro urges mayor to align project announcements with council filings

Councilor Lizandro Chamorro addressed an extraordinary session of the Ipiales municipal council, calling for greater consistency between the public statements of Mayor Amilcar Pantoja and the formal project proposals submitted to the council.

Chamorro highlighted that seven projects were slated for first and second debate, including land acquisitions for water‑source protection and a lot in the city’s lower sector. He noted that no official request had been filed to purchase a parcel adjacent to the SENA, despite the mayor’s repeated public mentions of such a purchase. The councilor also warned that many proposals lack the technical studies and legal documentation required for proper analysis, prolonging deliberations.

He urged municipal departments to provide complete technical, conceptual, and juridical support for initiatives, emphasizing the need for transparent, responsible decision‑making that reflects community needs such as public safety, water supply, and water quality.
