Ipiales provides social and health services to rural Cofania Jardín de Sucumbíos

The municipal administration of Ipiales conducted an inter-institutional outreach program in the rural district of Cofania Jardín de Sucumbíos to provide social, health, and protection services. This decentralization strategy aimed to reduce barriers for rural residents seeking administrative assistance and guidance.

A primary focus of the initiative was supporting the elderly through the Colombia Mayor program. Officials conducted characterization and verification processes to identify beneficiaries and assist those needing guidance with program procedures. Mauricio Cuaspud, the representative for the elderly in Ipiales, noted that these sessions allow officials to hear directly from rural seniors and ensure social programs reach those in need.

The program also targeted indigenous communities and students. Through the Municipal Prevention and Protection Committee and coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, sports equipment was delivered to indigenous leaders and local educational institutions.
