Ipiales to host Colombian Senate Second Commission session

The Second Commission of the Colombian Senate has approved a proposal to hold a decentralized session in Ipiales, located in the department of Nariño. The initiative, presented by Senator Jesús Cuasapud of the AICO party, aims to bring legislative debate directly to the border region with Ecuador.

The session is intended to facilitate direct dialogue between Congress, the national government, departmental and municipal authorities, indigenous leaders, and local community representatives. Key issues to be addressed include regional security, relations with Ecuador, and specific border dynamics. Senator Cuasapud emphasized the need for increased institutional presence in Nariño to ensure national entities respond to the territory's specific needs and commitments.
