Ipiales to host waste collection and recycling event

As part of Water Week, the municipality of Ipiales is organizing the ‘Ruta de Recolección por Nariño’ to improve waste management and promote recycling and reuse practices. The event will take place on August 25 and 26 at Parque 20 de Julio as part of the ‘Ipiales Verde: Recicla y Reutiliza’ strategy.

Citizens can drop off various materials requiring special handling or those suitable for recycling, including cardboard, plastic, batteries, electronic waste, LED bulbs, used cooking oil, expired medications, and pesticide residues. The initiative aims to prevent these materials from being discarded in public spaces or water sources.

María de Jesús Ruiz, manager of Iservi, emphasized the importance of citizen responsibility in managing waste from homes to protect the environment and water resources. The program also allows residents and businesses to request collection routes directly.
