Ipiranga President Leonardo Linden says Brazil will avoid diesel shortages

Leonardo Linden, president of fuel distributor Ipiranga, said Brazil will not face diesel supply problems despite a tighter global market caused by the Middle‑East conflict. He noted that before the conflict Ipiranga imported two to three ships of diesel each month, but now must bring in six to seven vessels after local suppliers were reduced, especially following Russia’s suspension of diesel exports. Petrobras halted diesel imports in April, May and June 2026 and resumed in July. Linden emphasized the need to diversify international sources, describing his outlook as “cautious optimism,” and credited market players for preventing any supply break. He also highlighted recent anti‑tax‑evasion and anti‑adulteration measures that have strengthened the sector and attracted logistics investment.
