Ipoh Court: Car wash worker pleads not guilty to attempted murder of police officer

K Viknes, a 29-year-old car wash worker, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges at the Ipoh Sessions Court. The charge stems from an incident on September 24, 2026, on Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab.

According to the prosecution, Viknes allegedly used a white Honda Civic to strike Lance Corporal Badrul Izwanu Pauzi, a 29-year-old traffic police officer who was performing duties at a roadblock. The case is being tried under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine.

The prosecution requested a bail amount of RM100,000, citing the victim's status as a public servant on duty. Defense counsel Jagdave Singh requested a lower bail of RM10,000, noting the accused earns RM50 a day and supports his parents and two school-aged siblings. The judge ultimately set bail at RM20,000, with additional conditions including monthly police reporting and the surrender of his passport. The case is scheduled for mention on October 26.
