Ipoh factory worker injured after hand trapped in meat grinder
A 19-year-old man sustained severe injuries after his right hand became trapped in a meat grinder at a chicken processing factory in the Bercham Light Industrial Area, Ipoh.
Emergency services from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at approximately 4:48 PM. Rescuers utilized the ‘SAVER’ concept and specialized cutter spreader equipment to attempt to dismantle the machine. Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health were present to administer anesthesia and manage the victim's pain during the operation.
Due to the grinder's blade housing being constructed of stainless steel and the victim's declining physical condition, the hand could not be fully extracted at the site. The victim was subsequently transported to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further medical treatment. The rescue operation concluded at 6:30 PM.
