Ipoh Sentral RM6.25 billion development project begins

The RM6.25 billion Ipoh Sentral development project has commenced, starting with the construction of landscape gardens earlier this year. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announced that the project will be followed by the construction of a mosque toward the end of this year, which is expected to take two years to complete.

Further phases include the construction of an integrated terminal and shopping mall scheduled to begin in 2027, with a projected implementation period of five to six years. Residential development is targeted to start in 2028. The project is designed to be flexible over a 20-year horizon based on market conditions.

Economically, the project is expected to generate between 8,000 and 9,000 jobs during the construction phase and more than 10,000 jobs once fully operational across the construction, service, logistics, and trade sectors. It is also anticipated to stimulate local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and increase surrounding property values.

As an integrated transit hub, Ipoh Sentral will unify ETS electric train services, Northern Commuter services, buses, taxis, and e-hailing services. The development aligns with the Ipoh Smart City Master Plan 2030, offering community facilities, office spaces, and service apartments while enhancing mobility and tourism in the Kinta district.
