IPPAN urges Nepal hydropower firms to sell IPO shares at Rs 100 to locals

The Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has called on hydropower companies to allocate IPO shares at the face value of Rs 100 per share to local residents directly affected by the projects. The association highlighted that regulations require at least 10% of shares to benefit locals and warned that issuing shares at premium prices would undermine community partnership.

IPPAN argued that face‑value allocation would turn residents into real partners, enhance ownership, reduce social disputes, and support long‑term economic empowerment and social harmony in the areas surrounding hydropower developments.
