iPronics secures $125M to scale AI optical switching technology
iPronics, a Spanish silicon photonics company and Valencia University spin-off, has secured $125 million in a Series B funding round. The round was co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital, with participation from NVIDIA.
The total funding for the firm has now reached $177 million. The capital is intended to scale operations and accelerate the commercial deployment of the iPronics Optical Networking Engine (ONE). This rack-mounted optical switch is designed to address the bandwidth and energy consumption limits of traditional copper-based network architectures in AI data centers.
Unlike traditional packet-switched fabrics, the company’s Optical Circuit Switching (OCS) platform uses a programmable layer to reconfigure network connectivity in real time. This technology aims to maximize GPU efficiency and control power usage and operational costs within AI infrastructure.
