Shefeen Ahamed K, Odisha Crime Branch IGP, dies at 50
Shefeen Ahamed K, a 2003-batch IPS officer serving as the Inspector General of Police for the CID Crime Branch and Cybercrime in Odisha, has died at the age of 50. He passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, while undergoing treatment for cancer at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
A native of Kerala, Ahamed had a distinguished career in the Indian Police Service, holding several key positions in Odisha including Superintendent of Police in Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Gajapati, as well as roles in the Vigilance Directorate and Human Rights Protection Cell. He was particularly recognized for his leadership in strengthening cybercrime investigations and technical policing.
