IPS Paraguay and Chilean social security announce major labor and pension updates

In Paraguay, the Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) is implementing measures to address a crisis involving mass resignations by medical specialists. IPS President Dr. Isaías Fretes met with President Santiago Peña to discuss strategic plans to strengthen healthcare services. The administration announced a plan to reduce working hours for medical staff, launch public competitions for subspecialists with more competitive salaries, and implement labor formalization to retain professionals in critical areas.

In Chile, social security beneficiaries are receiving various financial supports for September. The Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) is distributing the 'Aguinaldo de Fiestas Patrias' to pensioners across several regions, including Valparaíso and Aysén. The benefit consists of a base amount of 25,280 pesos per person, with additional increments for registered dependents. Additionally, thousands of seniors in regions such as Atacama and Maule are receiving an automatic increase in their Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU), raising the maximum amount to 250,275 pesos for those aged 75 to 81.
