Ipsos Türkiye study: 87% of parents seek control over children's allowances

A study conducted by Ipsos Türkiye in collaboration with Hayat Finans reveals that 87% of parents want to control their children's allowance through spending limits or category management. While 88% of parents currently provide allowances in cash, there is a significant demand for digital tools that allow for real-time notifications and expenditure tracking.

The research highlights that school-related needs are the primary driver for allowance usage, with 80% of children using funds for food and beverages at school. Other common uses include dining out with friends (61%), books and stationery (39%), and online gaming (14%).

Allowance also serves as an early introduction to financial responsibility. Approximately 79% of parents report encouraging their children to save regularly, with 29% of children saving a portion of their allowance consistently and 54% saving occasionally. To address the parental need for oversight, Hayat Finans offers the Biz Card, which is available for users aged 8 and up, allowing children to manage their own funds while enabling parents to set boundaries.
