Premier League opening: Ipswich Town win and Liverpool draw

In the opening matches of the Premier League season, both Ipswich Town and Liverpool secured points through dramatic finishes.

Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the league, defeated Sunderland 2-1. Japanese forward Daizen Maeda made his official debut for the club, playing 80 minutes as a starter on the left wing. Ipswich secured the win with a late goal from Jack Clarke after Emerson had opened the scoring earlier in the match.

In another fixture, Liverpool drew 2-2 against Newcastle United. Newcastle took an early lead through Anthony Elanga in the 5th minute, followed by a second goal from Joe Willock in the 57th minute. Liverpool fought back with a goal from Cody Gakpo in the 55th minute and secured a point in stoppage time when Dominik Szoboszlai converted a penalty. Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo remained on the bench for the duration of the match.
