Ipswich Town moves to sign Union SG goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen

Ipswich Town have submitted a bid for Dutch goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, who is currently under contract with Belgian club Union SG until 2028. Union acquired Scherpen from Brighton & Hove Albion for €2 million last summer; his market value is now estimated at around €8 million.

The English club, newly promoted to the Premier League, are seeking a goalkeeper with experience in Belgium, the Netherlands and England. Reports indicate a potential transfer fee of roughly €10 million, of which Union would receive about €6.8 million after Brighton’s 40 percent sell‑on clause is applied. Brighton would therefore collect approximately €3.2 million from the deal.

Negotiations between Ipswich, Union and the player’s representatives are ongoing, with the expectation that an agreement could be reached in the coming days. The move would represent a significant outgoing transfer for Union SG and bolster Ipswich’s squad for top‑flight competition.
