Iqbal Qasim criticizes young Pakistan cricketers over financial focus

Former Pakistan cricketer and chief selector Iqbal Qasim has criticized the mindset of young Pakistani cricketers, alleging they are more focused on financial gain than improving their skills or representing their country.

Qasim noted a lack of individual commitment and game awareness among the current generation. He observed that players are increasingly reliant on external support systems, such as coaches and data, rather than engaging in independent problem-solving and personal skill development. He emphasized that while the game has evolved, the fundamental requirement for success remains the amount of individual time devoted to mastering the sport.

Additionally, Qasim raised concerns regarding the current selection system, citing a lack of long-term planning and consistency. He contrasted the modern era with his own experience, noting that selectors previously served on an honorary basis without salaries or fees, driven by the motivation to serve the national team.
