IQM wins major Finnish contract for on‑premises quantum computer delivery by 2027

Finnish research centre CSC has awarded IQM Quantum Computers a large contract to supply an on‑premises quantum computer, designated LUMI‑IQ, for installation at the LUMI AI Factory by 2027. The system will use IQM’s Halocene‑H4 architecture and start with a 150‑qubit quantum processing unit, featuring quantum error‑correction techniques that bridge NISQ‑type devices toward fault‑tolerant operation.

The project is co‑funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and several European states, including Finland, the Czech Republic, Norway and Poland. The contract’s total value is comparable to IQM’s projected full‑year revenue for 2025, underscoring growing European demand for scalable, on‑site quantum hardware beyond cloud‑only prototypes. The delivery will integrate quantum workloads with existing high‑performance and AI resources at the LUMI AI Factory, supporting research in materials, health, energy and fundamental science.
