Iran accelerates Haftkel–Baghmalek–Izeh road expansion
Iranian transportation officials have announced plans to accelerate the expansion of the Haftkel–Baghmalek–Izeh road corridor. Houshang Bazvand, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, stated that work will begin on a 2.5-kilometer section to convert it into a four-lane highway, with efforts focused on completing asphalt operations as quickly as possible.
In another segment of the project, contractor activity has increased with approximately 15 to 16 machines currently deployed. Excavation operations, estimated at 450,000 cubic meters, are expected to be completed within one year. Additionally, technical reviews have determined that one planned intersection on the Baghmalek–Izeh axis will be implemented as a level crossing to prioritize construction speed.
Regarding the Baghmalek–Dishmok road project, Bazvand noted that progress had been hindered by financial challenges and issues with securing resources through bonds and securities. However, he indicated that sufficient financial resources are being sought this year to reactivate the project and resume construction following its recent hiatus.
