Iran accelerates missile and drone production amid diplomatic tensions

Iran is reportedly rebuilding its ballistic-missile and drone production capabilities faster than previously anticipated following strikes by the United States and Israel. Despite damage to infrastructure, Iran’s extensive network of underground “missile cities” and dispersed production sites has allowed for rapid recovery. Reports suggest that approximately 50% of attack-drone capacity and between 60% and 70% of mobile missile forces may remain intact, with missile inventories estimated between 2,500 and 6,000 units.

On the diplomatic front, the Iranian regime has responded aggressively to signals from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a potential pause in hostilities. Tehran has rejected negotiations, demanding a U.S. withdrawal and an end to the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Internal leadership shifts have also been noted, including the appointment of Mohsen Rezaei as a strategic adviser to the supreme leader. Additionally, Iranian leadership has emphasized a shifting geopolitical landscape, citing recent agreements between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia as a turning point in regional perceptions of the United States.
