Iran accuses Qatar of permitting US and Israeli attacks from its territory

On 29 July 2026, the Islamic Republic of Iran sent a letter (document S/2026/632) to the United Nations Secretary‑General and the President of the Security Council, alleging that the State of Qatar allowed United States and Israeli forces to use its land and facilities for military strikes against Iranian territory.

Iran states that the attacks began on 28 February 2026, cites technical data it says has been shared with the UN, and characterises the use of Qatari ground as an internationally illegal act. It asserts the right of self‑defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, warns of heightened threats to the Strait of Hormuz, and accuses the United States and Israel of violating the fundamental principle prohibiting aggression.
