Iran accuses United States of breaching international law by targeting civilian infrastructure

Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir‑Saeid Iravani, wrote to Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres accusing the United States of violating international law by striking Iranian civilian infrastructure. He said the attacks damaged ports, transport networks, communications facilities, logistics hubs, radar installations and coastal defence systems, causing deaths, injuries, extensive infrastructure loss and environmental harm.

Irvan​i cited a strike on a desalination plant in the coastal village of Bunji, Hormozgan province, which destroyed pumping stations and a power transformer, cutting drinking‑water supply for roughly 10,000 residents across 20 villages. He warned that such actions threaten international peace, maritime navigation freedom, regional stability and the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also claimed it launched missile strikes on U.S. facilities in Kuwait’s Al‑Ahmadi port and Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa air base, and said it destroyed a U.S. intelligence data centre in Bahrain.
