Iran advances regional trade ties with Pakistan and Russia
Iran is pursuing bilateral cooperation with both Pakistan and Russia through regional diplomatic and economic initiatives.
In Isfahan, Governor Mehdi Jamali Nejad met with the Pakistani Ambassador to discuss strengthening trade, culture, and industrial ties. The Governor highlighted Isfahan’s significant economic role, noting that the province hosts over 12 percent of Iran’s major industries and contains more than 85 special industrial zones. Discussions also touched upon the province's potential in tourism and medical services.
Separately, the Gilan province is set to host the first Iran-Russia Trade Development Summit at the Anzali Free Zone. The summit will focus on trade opportunities and challenges between Iran’s Gilan province and Russia’s Astrakhan region. Officials aim to utilize the historical trade connections and the strategic maritime, rail, and air access of both regions to expand investment and commercial exchange.
