Iran advances technology financing through Hamafza model and new bonds

Hossein Afshin, the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, has announced efforts to resolve executive obstacles regarding the ‘Hamafza’ model and the development of ‘technology development bonds.’

During a meeting involving representatives from the Advanced Industries Association, the Digital Economy Association, various venture capital funds, and the banking network, officials discussed new and sustainable financing tools for the knowledge-based ecosystem. The ‘Hamafza’ model is designed to increase financing capacity for knowledge-based companies by utilizing the combined resources of the private sector, the Innovation and Prosperity Foundation, and the banking network.

Afshin noted that some bureaucratic delays stem from the novelty of the model and limited familiarity among certain financial institutions with its mechanisms. To address this, decisions were made to improve coordination between banks, the Innovation and Prosperity Foundation, and participating associations to facilitate implementation. Future meetings will continue to monitor progress and address potential barriers to ensure these tools provide sustainable financing paths for the technology sector and the broader economy.
