Iran and Indonesia address security and humanitarian issues at UN

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected allegations that Iran is a source of terrorism and regional instability. Responding to comments by U.S. President Donald Trump, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran is actually a victim of terrorism, citing attacks on civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and universities. He specifically accused the United States and Israel of supplying weapons used in strikes that have killed children and scientists, including an attack on a sports hall in Lamerd.

Separately, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono addressed the UN regarding the protection of humanitarian personnel in conflict zones. Highlighting the failure to adhere to international humanitarian law, Sugiono called for an end to impunity for those who target aid workers and medical facilities. He referenced the destruction of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza and the loss of Indonesian military personnel serving under UN banners. Indonesia, alongside Egypt and Malaysia, is currently pushing for a UN Human Rights Council resolution to address threats to humanitarian access and personnel safety.
