Iran and Pakistan to implement 24-hour border operations

Iran and Pakistan are working to transition their border crossings to 24-hour operations to facilitate increased trade. Following a meeting between Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi, officials announced plans to boost bilateral trade from $3 billion to a target of $10 billion in the short to medium term.

To support this economic goal, infrastructure at the Mirjaveh and Rimdan borders is being strengthened to allow for round-the-clock activity. There are also plans to open a new border crossing at Kohak and develop railway connections to enable continuous train services. Officials aim to facilitate the daily movement of at least 2,000 trucks to reach the $10 billion trade target.

Additionally, the ministers discussed regional developments and upcoming diplomatic engagements. Minister Momeni is scheduled to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) ministers' meeting in Pakistan next month, following the previous year's meeting held in Tehran.
