Iran and Russia near final agreement on gas transfer
Hamid Bord, acting Minister of Petroleum, announced that an agreement for the transfer of Russian gas to Iran is nearly finalized. Technical work is currently underway following general agreements reached during recent presidential meetings. Experts are evaluating a transit route through Azerbaijan to facilitate the transfer.
In addition to gas, energy cooperation between the two nations includes the development of four major oil fields.
Separately, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf addressed domestic energy concerns, stating that a reduction of at least 10 percent in gas consumption is necessary to navigate the upcoming winter season. Ghalibaf also commented on regional geopolitics, noting the increasing alignment between the United States and Israel.
