Iran and Russia to hold sixth presidential meeting in Kyrgyzstan

Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to hold their sixth meeting next week. The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Jalali highlighted that over the past two years, Iran and Russia have developed five fundamental pillars for cooperation: the implementation of a comprehensive strategic treaty, free trade with the Eurasian Economic Union, the development of the North-South corridor, the establishment of financial and banking mechanisms, and energy cooperation.

Addressing perceptions regarding Iran's foreign policy, Jalali stated that Tehran views its relationship with Russia as independent of its relations with the West. He noted that the two leaders have already conducted six telephone conversations during this period.
