Iran and US exchange warnings amid intense economic blockade and conflict

Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated, with Iranian leadership and US President Donald Trump offering conflicting outlooks on the ongoing conflict.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country is facing its most intense blockade since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He accused Washington of attempting to destabilize the nation by making life difficult for citizens to incite social unrest. This follows US actions to blockade Iranian ports in response to Tehran closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf expressed a desire for permanent deterrence and stability through negotiations, but emphasized that Iran will continue to fight until its demands are met. He noted that despite US economic pressure, the Islamic Republic remains functional.

In contrast, US President Donald Trump predicted the war with Iran would end “very quickly.” Speaking in Montana, Trump claimed Iran’s military capabilities are severely diminished, stating they lack a navy and air force. He also predicted that oil prices would drop significantly once the conflict concludes.
