Iran announces nursing claim settlements and crisis response readiness

During celebrations for Nurse Day, Iranian health officials announced several developments regarding the nation's nursing workforce and crisis preparedness. Abbas Ebadi, Deputy of Nursing at the Ministry of Health, noted that the Social Security Organization has addressed long-standing claims from nurses, including the implementation of nursing tariffs and revised regulations to improve professional conditions.

Ebadi highlighted that the Social Security Organization operates 80 hospitals, serving a significant portion of the population. He also noted that Iran's nursing research sector currently ranks 15th globally and first in the region. Additionally, the 'Follow-up Nurse' initiative has successfully reduced hospital readmission rates for chronic diseases by 53% through post-discharge monitoring.

Minister of Health Mohammad Reza Zafarkandi emphasized the need for flexible healthcare management during crises, citing lessons learned from recent conflicts. He announced that 3,600 nurses have volunteered to be deployed to damaged or high-risk areas if needed. This initiative aims to create rapid response teams capable of providing medical support to various regions, addressing the unpredictability of modern conflict zones.
