Iran approves conditional chicken meat exports amid production drop

Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade granted a conditional licence for the export of chicken meat parts and whole carcasses, specifying tariff codes 02071310 and 02071100. The move aims to capture excess domestic supply for foreign‑exchange earnings while protecting the internal market from price spikes.

In June 2025, Iran's total poultry meat production fell 24 % compared with the same month a year earlier, reaching 174,854 tonnes. Chicken remained the dominant product with 169,239 tonnes, but output declined sharply. Golestan Province recorded the highest slaughter volume, processing over 10 million birds. Officials warned that if exports exceed surplus or domestic supply contracts, domestic chicken prices could rise.
